Four Plays Selected for Second Annual One-Act Play Festival

Audition for Actors Scheduled

The plays have been selected for Theatre Odyssey’s Second Annual One-Act Play Festival. Four plays from 100 submitted from across the United States will be produced at the Bradenton Kiwanis Theater at Manatee Performing Arts Center, October 31 through November 3. Tickets are selling
here and at the Manatee Performing Arts Center Box Office, or by telephone at (941) 748 5875.

The plays, all Florida premiers, are:

Growl by J. Lois Diamond
Iranian poet Simin Behbahani is heading to Paris to read her poetry when she is detained in the Tehran airport. Despite being 82 and almost blind, she is interrogated throughout the night. Will her principles prove to be stronger than her fears?

Immurement by David L. Williams
A couple of young tourists in a foreign country have just been arrested. They’re not sure why they’re being detained, but when an attorney sent by the local government arrives to review their case, they learn, to their dismay, what their crime was and more importantly, what their punishment is going to be.

Ivy Walls by Karen Cecilia
Camille, a college senior who works hard and sacrifices everything for her future, finds herself in a situation with her dorm mate, Emma, which challenges her to question everything she has worked for. (This play will be produced with a Content Warning.)

Provenance by Ian Patrick Williams
A near homicidal art collector confronts a forger when he realizes the painting he bought at auction is a fake.
