A CHRISTMAS STORY THE MUSICAL
WILL HOLD AUDITIONS FOR LOCAL YOUTH
OCTOBER 18 AT SHEA’S SMITH THEATRE
FOR PERFORMANCE DATES DEC. 13-18 AT SHEA’S
A Christmas Story The Musical will hold local auditions on Tuesday, October 18 to cast two local youth in the holiday production coming to Shea’s Buffalo Theatre December 13-18 for eight performances.
Auditions will be held from 2:45 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Shea’s Smith Theatre, 658 Main Street, next door to Shea’s Box Office. Entrance is at Della Mostra/Shea’s Smith Theatre, 658 Main St.
Requirements: The company is seeking two children, ages 8 – 13 years old, with a love for theatre and a strong stage presence. They will need to have had some dance training in order to learn the choreography and must be between the height of 4”5 – 4”10.
A parent must escort their child to the audition and fill out the registration form online at
www.sheas.org and submit to Shea’s by October 15. Please only bring to the audition the child that is auditioning. Sheet music for the audition will also be posted on the registration site for participants to download in advance of the audition.
The Dance Captain for the tour will instruct the youth on the choreography at the audition.
Rehearsal: Once the two winners are chosen, they will be provided a DVD to help them learn the song and dance before the show arrives in town. Prior to their first performance, each winner will be put in the show during sound check (around 5pm, but exact schedule will be sent at a later date).
Performance: The two winners will both come to opening night to get fitted for costumes and
learn additional choreography. They will watch that evening’s performance and then the two
winners will alternate performing in the rest of the shows (excluding the final performance).
Audition Event Timeline:
2:45 PM: Registration Begins at Shea’s Smith Theatre
3:30 PM: Choreography Instruction, Competition & Judging Begins
5:45 PM: Two winners are announced
6:00 PM: Audition Over
