The New York quartet - Grizzly Bear - are bringing their resplendent, harmony-soaked chamber-pop to New Zealand for the first time in their career with shows planned for Auckland and Wellington in late 2012.
Although their debut album Horn of Plenty may have put them on the map, it was really their sophomore effort—and first as a quartet—Yellow House, that firmly established Grizzly Bear's signature ethereal sound. Following tours supporting Radiohead and Feist, and with the stunning endorsement of Johnny Greenwood (Radiohead), who declared them his “favourite band in the world”, Grizzly Bear released their critically acclaimed third album in 2009, Veckatimest. A work of musical bliss, it reached #8 on the Billboard Top 200 and littered best of end-of-year lists worldwide: #1 Wall Street Journal, #4 Spin Magazine, #6 Pitchfork, #6 New York Times, and many more. More recently the band featured on the soundtrack for the movie Blue Valentine (2011) starring Ryan Gosling. A further announcement about Grizzly Bear’s fourth album is expected later this year.
