(10/13/2014) - Cocktails named after some of the show stopping musical numbers from the smash Broadway musical CHICAGO greeted the cast, crew, and guests at a post-performance party at Marti's, a bistro in the French Quarter, late Tuesday night. CHICAGO's current tour cast, headlined by Bianca Marroquin (Roxie Hart), Terra C. MacLeod (Velma Kelly), John O'Hurley (Billy Flynn in select cities), Jacob Keith Watson (Amos Hart), Roz Ryan (Matron 'Mama' Morton), and C. Newcomer (Mary Sunshine), kicked off CHICAGO's 16th U.S. Tour at the newly reopened atmospheric theatre in NOLA, the 2,736-seater Saenger Theatre along Canal Street, with a rapturous standing ovation from a packed audience earlier that evening.

(11/14/2013) - Members of the cast of HAIR, now playing at Le Petit Theatre, spent this morning demonstrating music and dance to a hundred students from charter schools in Algiers. Students from Algiers Technology Academy, Martin Behrman Charter Academy for Creative Arts & Sciences, McDonogh #32 Literacy Charter School, William J. Fischer Accelerated Learning Academy, Dwight D. (01/08/2013) - Southern Rep Theatre kicks off its 26th Season Mainstage Series with VENUS IN FUR by David Ives at The Contemporary Arts Center directed by Aimée Hayes starring Todd d'Amour and Veronica Russell. In what The New York Times describes as 'seriously smart and very funny,' VENUS IN FUR is a frisky game of cat and mouse in which the lines blur between reality and play, seduction and power, and love and sex. (01/07/2013) - Performances for the upcoming national tour of FLASHDANCE - THE MUSICAL, the stage adaptation of the 1983 hit film that defined a generation, begin January 1st and run through January 6 at Pittsburgh's Heinz Hall. At a recent press event, Mayor Luke Ravenstahl officially announced January 1st as FLASHDANCE day. Following the Pittsburgh engagement, FLASHDANCE will embark on a national tour to more than 25 cities in the next seven months with additional bookings to be announced soon. (08/26/2012) - Swine Palace's season will kick off with a production of A FREE MAN OF COLOR by John Guare, a finalist for the 2011 Pulitzer prize for Drama, and which had its world premiere at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre in the Lincoln Center in November of 2010. Swine Palace will be producing the first regional premiere of the play; no other production has been done. A FREE MAN OF COLOR runs at the Claude L. Shaver Theatre from September 19 - 30, 2012. The production features two of Southern Rep's & New Orleans' favorite actors, Bob Edes, Jr. (2010 Big Easy Theatre Person of the Year, Southern Rep credits include I AM MY OWN WIFE, LOVE CHILD, OPUS) and Sean Glazebrook (member of the NOLA Project, Southern Rep credits include WITH A BANG, THE FOUR OF US, SPEECH AND DEBATE).
(09/20/2011) - The national tour of THE ADDAMS FAMILY, a new musical based on the bizarre and beloved family of characters created by legendary cartoonist Charles Addams kicked off September 15 at the Mahalia Jackson Theater in New Orleans. The show runs in New Orleans through September 24th. Joining Tony Award® nominee Douglas Sills as Gomez and Sara Gettelfinger as Morticia are Tony Award® nominee Martin Vidnovic as Mal Beineke, two-time Tony Award® nominee Crista Moore as Alice Beineke, Blake Hammond as Uncle Fester, Pippa Pearthree as Grandma, Tom Corbeil as Lurch, Patrick D. (08/29/2011) - On Saturday August 27, 2011, BroadwayWorld.com's CEO/Editor-in-Chief Robert Diamond, in the midst of Hurricane Irene married actress Jennifer Hallie Rosen after a 17 month engagement. The two were introduced by a friend of Rosen's, who wasn't able to make the wedding, as a result of the weather and warnings throughout all the boroughs. The BroadwayWorld.com News Desk stayed feverish all weekend while the couple said 'I Do', as news was coming fast about theatre cancellations, schedule changes and travel advisories in addition to all things that were happening in other parts of the country and the world, not affected by the Northeast's local weather.
