Puccini's Gianni Schicchi at Renaissance Church, Springfield

The Sopranos meet The Addams Family in NJ Festival Orchestra's production of Gianni Schicchi, Puccini’s rip-roaring comic opera about a last will and testament.

Featuring Daniel Klein in the title role and MET Opera's Ashley Emerson as Loretta, a cast of internationally acclaimed guest performers joins NJFO to present this hilarious romp of deception, greed and double-crossing. Beth Greenberg directs, bringing this fast-paced and deliciously dark comedy into an imagined Victorian-Goth world, with just a dash of Addams Family kookiness thrown in for good measure.

Sung in Italian with English supertitles, Gianni Schicchi boasts some of the composer’s most memorable work including the renowned “O mio babbino caro,” ("Oh my Dear Father") one of the best loved arias in opera – ever.
