THEATER TO GO Speeds Into Kelsey Theatre To Banish The Winter Blues With Ken Ludwig’s Adaptation Of TWENTIETH CENTURY

The year is 1932 and Oscar Jaffe, an egocentric and eccentric Broadway producer is desperately in need of a hit. He travels with his entourage aboard the 20th Century Limited plotting to entice his former lover and protégé Lily Garland, a now famous Hollywood actress to star in his next play. Hilarity ensues as we meet a variety of oddball characters who get entangled in Jaffe’s plot as the train speeds between Chicago and New York.

This faced paced screwball comedy will be presented by THEATER TO GO January 26-February 4 2018 at Kelsey Theatre in West Windsor New Jersey. The original play TWENTIETH CENTURY by Ben Hecht and Charles McArthur was made into a Hollywood blockbuster in 1934 starring John Barrymore and Carol Lombard. It has had several stage revivals since then, including as a musical in 1978 called On The Twentieth Century. This latest adaptation by Ken Ludwig (of Lend me a Tenor and Moon over Buffalo fame) ran on Broadway in 2004 starring Alec Baldwin and Anne Heche. It is a perfect treat for anyone who loves to laugh at theater and the people who make theatre.

THEATER TO GO now brings this hilarious romp to The Kelsey Theatre stage. Directed by Ruth Markoe, it features a talented cast including Tom Chiola (Oscar Jaffe), Erin Leder (Lily Garland), Joyce Porter (Ida Webb), Barry Leonard (Owen O’Malley), Stan Karuzis (The Conductor), Dan River (The Porter), Jack Bathke (Dr. Lockwood), Kate Blazo (Anita), Jake Zillioux (Mr. Clark), Jeffrey Milstein (as Max Jacobs) and Charles Acosta (George Smith).

In addition to Ms Markoe, the Creative Team consists of Stage Manager Melissa Rittmann, Costumer Ruth Rittmann, Lighting design by M. Kitty Getlik, Sound Design by Eric Collins, Set Design by John Russell and Set decoration by Amy Bessellieu.
