Main Street Theatre Company in Old Bridge, NJ, is bringing to life The Secret Garden: Spring Version, a beautifully condensed 90-minute adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical. With music by Lucy Simon and book and lyrics by Marsha Norman—based on Frances Hodgson Burnett’s classic novel—the show promises an enchanting blend of mystery, music, and emotional depth. The story follows 11-year-old Mary Lennox, an orphan from India who is sent to live with her reclusive uncle Archibald Craven and his ailing son Colin in Yorkshire. Amidst grief and loneliness, Mary discovers a hidden, neglected garden that becomes a source of healing and transformation. Guided by ethereal “Dreamers,” spirits from her past, Mary and those around her rediscover love, forgiveness, and the power of renewal. Directed by Susan Sweeney, with musical direction by AJ Meeker, choreography by Nik Palivoda, and stage management by Mariya Maister, the production promises heartfelt performances and evocative music. The show is produced by Kevin Gunther Sr., with Aaron “Juice” Jackson serving as assistant director.
