The Boiler Room Theatre Presents CLUE The Musical, Opens 10/9

The Boiler Room Theatre (BRT), Williamson County's resident professional theatre company, will present the musical comedy CLUE The Musical, based on the popular board game. CLUE The Musical will begin on Oct. 9, 2009 at thetheater, located in the historic Factory at Franklin, 230 Franklin Rd., Building Six, for arun through Nov. 7, 2009.

Australia's Strange Fruit Launches 35th Anniversary Season of Great Performances at Vanderbilt

Four free performances by Australia's Strange Fruit, the international outdoor festival performers, will launch the 35th anniversary of Great Performances at Vanderbilt this week, with shows at Nashville's Centennial Park and on the Alumni Lawn on the Vanderbilt University campus. Other events in the 2009-2010 season include a radio documentary performance by L.A. Theatre Works and the social revolutionary group, Grupo Cultural AfroReggae with Anderson Sa himself on-site direct from Rio de Janeiro including among residency activities the screening of Favela Rising, recipient of 36 international film festival awards.

Nashville Ballet Is Set To Hold Youth Cast Auditions For Its Production Of THE NUTCRACKER 9/13 And 9/20

Nashville Ballet will hold Youth Cast auditions for the 2009 encore production of Nutcracker on Sunday, September 13, and on Sunday, September 20, at 3630 Redmon Street, Nashville, TN 37209. Nashville Ballet will present the Nashville-based version of this holiday classic. The traditional story is set during the time of the 1897 Tennessee Exposition when the Parthenon was built and incorporates many local elements, such as the interior of Clara?s house designed after the Belle Meade mansion. There are many different and imaginative roles in this production. Only one audition is needed; select one of the two dates. There is a $10.00 audition fee and all participants are required to bring a full-body photograph. All participants must be eight years old by December 31, 2009. Girls should wear proper dance attire and boys should wear shorts and a T-shirt. Eppler's richly textured script might best be described as a send-up of Anastasia meets Grey Gardens, with some Sleeping Beauty, Annie, You Can't Take it With You and The Grifters (and an affectionate nod to Fiddler on the Roof) thrown in for good measure, all presented in a farcical manner that works on every level. Kudos to director David Compton for keeping things moving at a good clip and coaxing some stellar performances from his cast of gifted players.
