Occasionally Employed Productions Presents Chap Snatchers! A True-ish Crime Story
A fast-paced comedy about the bizarre kidnapping of Charlie Chaplin’s corpse, opening October 3 at Bryant-Lake Bowl
MINNEAPOLIS, MN. – In 1978, two men kidnapped the corpse of Charlie Chaplin and held it for ransom.
This might be how it happened.
Chap Snatchers! A True-ish Crime Story takes a forgotten headline and spins it into a fast-paced comedy full of gangsters, slapstick, mistaken identities, and the world’s most famous silent star caught in the middle. Part screwball farce, part heist, and part love letter to laughter itself, the show mixes pop-culture savvy, bona fide clowning chops, and a deep affection for classic comedy.
The production is created by Josh Carson (A Very Die Hard Christmas), Neal Skoy (Ringling Brothers, Big Apple Circus), and Joshua English Scrimshaw (Mysterious Old Radio Listening Society). Together they deliver an outrageous caper that reimagines one of history’s strangest crimes.
The cast features: Neal Skoy, Josh Carson, Thalia Bea Kostman, Rob Ward, Cate Jackson, Kaitlen Osburn, and introduces Joshua English Scrimshaw as the corpse of Charlie Chaplin.
Performances run October 3–18, 2025 at Bryant-Lake Bowl Theater in Minneapolis.
