Duluth Playhouse Underground presents its annual one-night-only new play festival featuring nine original short works written by women and staged by local women directors. The 2026 lineup explores themes of transformation, loss, resistance, and longing, with works ranging from surreal comic explorations of bodies and identity to stories of estranged friends and twins fractured by violence. The festival includes plays by Patricia Lynn, Elizabeth Shannon, Marjorie Williamson, Áine King, Aladrian C. Wetzel, Hope Campbell Gundlah, Marian Adewunmi Yesufu, Erica Smith, and Regina E. Hinkley, directed by Anika Thompson, Lynnlee Johnson, Kendra Carlson, Kay Capasso, and AJ Valentine. Performances begin at 7:30 PM, preceded by a pre-show community gathering in the lobby at 6:00 PM.
