The stage adaptation of Prince's influential film and album, Purple Rain, will have its pre-Broadway world premiere at the historic State Theatre in Minneapolis from October 16 to November 16, 2025. Featuring a book by Tony Award winner Branden Jacobs-Jenkins and direction by Lileana Blain-Cruz, the production reflects the iconic story of The Kid, a budding rock musician navigating love and rivalry in the vibrant Minneapolis music scene. The music will be supervised by Jason Michael Webb, with contributions from Prince's former bandmates Morris Hayes and Bobby Z, ensuring authenticity to Prince's vision and legacy.
