Set in February 1930, Cakewalk follows the Jenkins Vaudeville trio as they prepare to perform at a birthday party. Aspiring writer Pat, disillusioned with vaudeville and unwilling to play the role of a slave in a new script, plans to quit and leave with his younger brother Benny, sparking conflict with their father John. Written by Kenndall Wallace and directed by Bryana Hall, the play is presented as a reading with talkback as part of the 2026 Michigan Playwrights Festival.
