Miami City Ballet's Program Three features the highly anticipated world premiere of One Line Drawn commissioned exclusively for the company by the Harris Theater of Music and Dance in Chicago with choreography by Brian Brooks. In addition to Brook's premiere, the Program also juxtaposes the old and the new, featuring George Balanchine's classic masterpiece Theme and Variations, with soaring music by Tchaikovsky, as well as Jerome Robbins' lighthearted The Concert (or, the Perils of Everybody), universally acclaimed as the funniest of all comic ballets.

The Patricia And Phillip Frost Art Museum FIU Appoints Amy Galpin As New Curator

The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum FIU, the Smithsonian Affiliate in Miami, announces the appointment of Amy Galpin, PhD, as the museum's new Curator. She will begin her new role at the Frost on February 12, and most recently served as Curator at the Cornell Fine Arts Museum at Rollins College. Galpin's curatorial trajectory has primarily focused on modern and contemporary work created in the U.S. and Latin America. She also served as Associate Curator of Art of the Americas at the San Diego Museum of Art, and has curated exhibitions at the National Museum of Mexican Art in Chicago and the Pasadena Museum of California Art. In her new role at the Frost Art Museum FIU, Galpin will be responsible for curating the institution's exhibitions, implementing the museum's plans for its permanent collection, and leveraging her expertise to support the museum's vision. The museum is part of Florida International University, and is one of Miami's leading cultural destinations.

The National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) today announced the nominees for the 2018 U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts, one of the nation's highest honors for high school students who exemplify academic and artistic excellence. YoungArts is the sole nominating agency for this high honor and the 60 candidates, representing 25 states and nine artistic disciplines, are all YoungArts winners. The students have been nominated to the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program for their artistic achievement on the heels of the organization's annual signature program, National YoungArts Week, which concluded in Miami on January 14.

This Primal Forces production of Communion is in the intimate setting of Empire Stage. The set and the costumes are effective and clean. The direction is surprisingly sensitive from a company that prides itself on cutting-edge shock value. The writing is intelligent, the subject matter is thought-provoking, and the acting is gripping and smart. This is definitely worth a go see, especially for a stand out performance by Kim Ostrenko.
Palm Beach Dramaworks Announces Staged Readings of Two New Plays

The Dramaworkshop, Palm Beach Dramaworks' lab for developing new plays, will be presenting staged readings of two fascinating works, both of which are open to the public. Up first is Lyle Kessler's House on Fire, a play that will receive its world premiere at PBD during the 2018-2019 season. This darkly comic twist on the Prodigal Son story will be performed on February 23 and 24.

When playwright Ernest Thompson was growing up, he and his family summered at a lakefront cabin in Maine. That special place was the inspiration for On Golden Pond, his extraordinarily popular, bittersweet play about love and aging, recrimination and reconciliation. Since its Broadway premiere in 1979, the play has been seen in more than 40 countries, and performed in some 30 languages. On Golden Pond opens at Palm Beach Dramaworks onFebruary 2 and continues through February 25, with specially priced previews on January 31 and February 1.

Outre Theatre Presents East Coast Premiere Of RESERVOIR DOLLS

The Outre Theatre Company announces the East Coast premiere of Reservoir Dolls, inspired by Quentin Tarantino's film and adapted by Erika Soerensen. This reimagining of the classic 1992 indie film recasts its characters as women, examining how our culture treats violence differently depending on the gender of the perpetrator. Outre's production is also the first time that the production has been directed by a woman, in this case Assistant Artistic Director Shannon Ouellette. For tickets to Reservoir Dolls at The Pompano Beach Cultural Center, please visit, www.ccpompano.org. The production runs February 1-18, 2018, Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 pm, Sundays at 2 pm.
