The National Society of Arts and Letters (NSAL) Florida chapter recently hosted a magnificent evening of music and philanthropy at The Wick Theatre’s Museum Club  Check out photos of the event.

The sold-out "Celebrate the Arts" gala successfully raised critical funds for young emerging artists while honoring South Florida cultural icon Rob Russell with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award.

"Seeing the community rally behind these young performers is exactly why we do this. This event wasn't just about celebrating Rob’s legacy; it was about ensuring that the next generation of young, local artists has the financial ability to ascend to the next stage of success,” said Shari Upbin, event co-chair. “The energy in the Museum Club was electric, and the generosity of our supporters has set a new benchmark for what we can achieve."

The evening was a vibrant tribute to Russell’s storied career, which includes nearly two decades managing the renowned Royal Room Cabaret at the Colony Hotel and his current role as a beloved performer and host at Cafe Centro. Guests enjoyed a lavish dinner followed by a powerhouse concert featuring Russell’s colleagues and friends, including Avery Sommers, Copeland Davis, Deborah Silver, Anthony Nunziata, Carole J. Bufford, Dawn Derrow, Sarah Dreben, Kathy Oneill, and Jill and Rich Switzer. The Boca Train Jazz Quartet and several NSAL scholarship winners also took the stage, providing a firsthand look at the talent the organization supports.

"Rob Russell has spent his life shining a light on others, so it was truly special to see that light turned back on him tonight. This gala serves as a vital reminder that the arts are the heartbeat of Florida. By coming together, we’ve secured the funding for scholarship and prize competitions that will quite literally change the trajectories of many young lives,” said Arlene Herson, event co-chair.
