The world-renowned St Petersburg Theatre Russian Ballet will perform this 130-year-old production in its MOST ORIGINAL CHOREOGRAPHY, for the first time ever in Asia. The company tours internationally with more than 250 sold-out performances in a year.
First premiered in 1890 in St. Petersburg, The Sleeping Beauty is one of the most famous and beautiful performances - a real masterpiece of the Russian ballet.
Choreographed by the legend Marius Petipa, ballet critics consider ‘The Sleeping Beauty’ as the “encyclopedia of classical dance”; the most challenging ballet production.
The music was by the celebrated Russian composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky; the composer himself viewed the music as “probably the best of all works”
The Asian World Premiere of The Sleeping Beauty will feature world-renowned Russian conductor, Timur Gorkovemko together with the Malaysia National Symphony Orchestra; and is poised to be the major landmark international ballet performing arts presentation in the Visit Truly Asia Malaysia 2020 campaign.
The Sleeping Beauty in Malaysia continues the long and great tradition of Russian classical ballet from what most would consider of being the Russian ballet’s golden age. St Petersburg Theatre Russian Ballet tours 250 sold-out performances annually, in over 130 cities including those of Finland, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Canada, China, and the USA to over 1 million audiences.
