Their thrilling show whilst Printemps Musical 2011 is still in best memories. Those five guys from Austria put den Atelier on fire and we're happy to have them back!
Bauchklang (the name translates literally as 'stomach sound') have been around for a few years already. In fact, they started almost 15 years ago in St. Pölten, the main city in Lower Austria. Bit by bit, the five vocalists, Andi Fraenzl, Alex Böck, Gerald Huber, Christian Birawsky and Philipp Sageder, practically reinvented the a capella genre, translating it into a new form for the 21st century. Using virtuoso voice control, mouth percussion and human beat boxing, Bauchklang generates a sound that audiences find hard to grasp in its wide range, compelling rhythms and sheer brute force. And that's not all. Bauchklang are all the more impressive for the way they combine and explore dub, electro, hip hop, drum n' bass and world music to create multifaceted and complex sound patterns that are densely woven and yet at the same time ethereal.
