Keels script brings out of the shadows individuals who are living with bipolar disorder. And if that individual is also a theatre artist, they write a play about the daily experiences and struggles! NOTE is a meta-theatrical exploration that opens up conversations about mental illness and personalizes the risks that individuals, their friends, and families encounter on this journey. Set in a rehearsal studio in which performers are rehearsing a play, we also glimpse individuals rehearsing for life. Keels script does not shy away from the challenges of bipolar disorder, finding and staying on appropriate medication, and just navigating a world that doesnt act in ways that people who are neurodivergent can easily access. On the other hand, there are also rich veins of humor and joy in this play-within-the-play experiences as well. A long-time participant in Derby City Playwrights, Keel developed this script during their 2018 class of playwrights. May 31, June 1, June 3, June 7, & June 8 at 7:30pm, June 9 at 5:30pm.
