An Early Christmas Present: Musical Theatre Guild Presents the Holidays on Stage & Screen!

Fundraiser to support MTG’s Student Outreach Programs!

Musical Theatre Guild launches the holiday season in its own unique style, with a brand-new concert fundraiser. THE HOLIDAYS ON STAGE & SCREEN, a fundraising concert benefiting the Guild’s Student Outreach programs, will feature holiday songs from shows, movies, and television, ranging from the perennial to the obscure. Hosted by Guild member Glenn Rosenblum and based on his acclaimed holiday lectures, the concert showcases an all-star gathering of nearly two dozen Guild members. THE HOLIDAYS ON STAGE & SCREEN will take place for one night only: Thursday, November 20th, 2005, 8:30 PM, at the Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood, CA.

“The winter holidays, as represented in musicals, have always felt special to me,” says Glenn Rosenblum, Guild member and host of the evening. “They’re comfort food! The songs evoke nostalgia, family, and friends. They bring instant joy and also sometimes even a melancholy of times gone by.” Adds Rosenblum, “So many composers have given us these gifts of music and lyrics, including Jerry Herman, Irving Berlin, Burt Bacharach and Hal David, Cy Coleman and Michael Stewart, and Meredith Willson. I’m hoping that the songs from writers like these will bring much-needed warmth and musical happiness to all of us!”

Joining Rosenblum on the artistic staff is Musical Director Sam Krieger. Leesa Freed will stage manage, and Susan Edwards Martin & Paul Wong serve as Producers. Guild performers scheduled to appear alongside Rosenblum include Eileen Barnett, Roger Befeler, Patrick Beller, Jill Marie Burke, Melissa Lyons Caldretti, Melissa Fahn, Joshua Finkel, Julie Garnye, Tal Fox, Barbara Carlton Heart, Ashley Fox Linton, Maura M. Knowles, Susan Edwards Martin, Ashley Moniz, Leslie Stevens, Trance Thompson, Diane Vincent, and Paul Wong.

Proceeds from THE HOLIDAYS ON STAGE & SCREEN go to support Musical Theatre Guild’s Youth Outreach Programs, a cornerstone of the organization’s mandate to engage the next generation of theatre artists and theatregoers. The Guild’s Youth Outreach Program takes specially prepared live performances into Southern California schools, brings hundreds of local high school students to live theatre performances, and offers mentorships to theatre students who shadow our professionals behind the scenes of mainstage productions. Musical Theatre Guild is committed to inspiring and developing the next generations of theatre artists and audiences. In addition, Musical Theatre Guild’s fundraising efforts help provide ASL access for Deaf and Hard-of-hearing patrons at its mainstage productions.

Whether you’re craving the classic holiday songs from the musicals you’ve always loved, or you’re itching to discover that forgotten holiday gem, THE HOLIDAYS ON STAGE & SCREEN must be your first destination this holiday season!
