Inland Valley Repertory Theatre (IVRT) with the Lewis Family Playhouse proudly presents Shrek the Musical. Based on the DreamWorks Animation Motion Picture and the book by William Steig, the stage production features music by Jeanine Tesori and book & lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire. The production is sponsored by the Rancho Cucamonga Community and Arts Foundation.
Shrek the Musical is a laugh-out-loud, heartwarming fairy tale where curses are broken, monsters find love, and princesses prove that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. The story follows the grumpy, green ogre Shrek, who prefers the solitude of his swamp until his peace is interrupted by a band of banished fairy-tale misfits, including Pinocchio, the Gingerbread Man, and the Three Little Pigs. To reclaim his home, Shrek strikes a deal with the villainous Lord Farquaad: he must rescue the spirited Princess Fiona and restore order. But along the way, Shrek discovers that true love, and true friendship, may be the greatest happily-ever-after of all.
Under the direction of Cameron Harris, the production features dazzling sets and costumes, imaginative puppetry by Stage Monkey, energetic choreography by Anthony Tuason, and a live orchestra conducted by Ronda Rubio. With nonstop laughs and big-hearted storytelling, the show stars a dynamic cast of 30 led by Marcel Almirantearena, Amanda Minano, Jeffrey Johns, Kirklyn Robinson, and DarRand Hall.
Based on the beloved children’s book and the Academy Award-winning animated film, Shrek the Musical transforms the classic story into a magical stage adventure. Bursting with humor, high-energy dance numbers, and unforgettable characters, this production promises fun for the whole family and a reminder that everyone deserves their own “happily ever after.” The show runs Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 and Saturday and Sunday matinees at 1:30 from Oct 17-26. A perfect Halloween experience for all!
