Rise is a solo play written and performed by Diana Varco, directed by Meridith Grundei, and produced by Jessica Lynn Johnson. The 60-minute one-person show is told through 20 characters and uses magical realism to explore adverse childhood experiences, denial, addiction, and foster care. Written in rhyme and performed on a bare stage with a single chair, the piece blends dramatic and comedic elements to address mental health, healing, and resilience. Varco, a trained improviser and character actress, previously stunned audiences with her solo show Shattered at Hollywood Fringe 2017.
