Start off 2023 with this sparkling and virtuosic program, featuring soloistsYura Leein one of the earliest known Viola Concertos,Telemann’s Concerto in G major, andDavid Washburnperforming a hidden gem: the charming pre-classical concerto Concerto for Trumpet in E flat, by Czech composerJohann Baptist Neruda. The program also featuresCorelli’s rich and festive Concerto Grosso in D major Opus 6, No.4;Geminiani’s charming Concerto Grosso in D major, Op.5, No.1; andHandel’s grand Concerto Grosso in A major Op.6, No.11, one of the Baroque era’s most celebrated pieces for strings.
This program is dedicated in memory of Warner W. Henry, Board Director emeritus, and his love of chamber and Baroque music.
January 2023 offerings at Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts include the Los Angeles premiere of Wise Children's theatrical production of Wuthering Heights, based on Emily Brontë's masterful novel, and The Wallis debut of Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, featuring a program of compelling Baroque Concerti.
