Proceeds from Valentine’s Day Concert to Benefit Youth Arts Programs Impacted by Southern California Fires Musical Theatre Guild has focused on Youth Education in the Arts throughout its nearly three-decade history. Because of this, all proceeds from the upcoming Valentine’s Day-themed fundraiser, IT’S COMPLICATED… AN EVENING OF SONGS ABOUT LOVE (the good, the bad and the messy) will benefit theatre organizations with youth programs impacted by the recent Southern California fires. Profits from the concert/auction/raffle will be divided between the Pasadena Playhouse’s Education Department and Theatre Palisades Youth, two theatre companies committed to providing ongoing arts education to young people in the communities most affected by the fires. IT’S COMPLICATED… will take place for one night only: Wednesday, February 12th, 2005, 8:30 PM, at the Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood, CA. “Our members – many of them performing on February 12th – felt passionately that theatre and arts programs for young people should be sustained in the aftermath of the fires,” says Guild member Wendy Rosoff, Creator and Director of IT’S COMPLICATED… “It was important to all of us that our efforts be dedicated to supporting organizations that will keep theatre alive in the hearts of the students most affected by this tragedy.” IT’S COMPLICATED… AN EVENING OF SONGS ABOUT LOVE (the good, the bad, and the messy) is a musical examination of love and connection, exploring all of the complexities of romantic love. Joyful, passionate, comedic, and sometimes awkward, IT’S COMPLICATED… celebrates love in all its glory through songs from musicals and song cycles, performed by an all-star array of over two dozen Guild members. The songs performed will be a mix of classics and less-familiar choices, all from the musical theatre canon, just as audiences have come to expect from Musical Theatre Guild. Joining Wendy Rosoff on the artistic staff is Musical Director Anthony Zediker. Leesa Freed will stage manage, and Susan Edwards Martin & Will Collyer serve as Producers. Guild performers scheduled to appear include Eileen Barnett, Roger Befeler, Jennifer Bennett, Will Collyer, Matthew Patrick Davis, Joshua Finkel, Tal Fox, Kim Huber, Melissa Lyons Caldretti, Susan Edwards Martin, Kevin Matsumoto, Tonoccus McClain, Barbara Minkus, Ashley Moniz, Kyle Montgomery, Lisa Picotte, Chelsea Morgan Stock, Gabriel Navarro, Wendy Rosoff, Mary VanArsdel, Diane Vincent, Shannon Warne, Paul Wong, Robert Yacko, and David Zack. Enjoy dinner, drinks, and the best of Broadway, performed by the finest musical theatre performers in Southern California, and help ensure that young people impacted by the fires can continue their love of live theatre.
