Freedom at the Moulin Rouge: A Las Vegas Civil Rights Story at MUSE/IQUE

Dates: 8/27/2024 - 9/5/2024

Theatre:
MUSE/IQUE

Freedom at the Moulin Rouge explores the remarkable story of America’s first fully integrated hotel and casino in Las Vegas, which operated briefly in 1955. This production, led by Rachael Worby and featuring vocalists Kenton Chen, LaVance Colley, Ashley Faatoalia, and Crystal Starr, celebrates the vibrant cultural gathering place that the Moulin Rouge represented, attracting icons like Nat King Cole and Judy Garland. The show highlights the hotel's role in the civil rights movement and its lasting impact on a city then dominated by segregation. Performances will take place on August 27 and 28 at The Huntington, and September 4 and 5 at the Skirball Cultural Center.
