Fences at Mark Taper Forum

August Wilson's Pulitzer Prize-winning contemporary classic, directed by Phylicia Rashad. Set in segregated Pittsburgh in the 1950s, the play depicts Troy Maxson, a former Negro League baseball star now working as a sanitation worker, whose bitterness and frustration take a toll on his wife Rose and his son Cory. Fences explores the walls people build around themselves and their loved ones while illuminating one family's struggles in a racist society. This production completes Center Theatre Group's staging of all ten plays in Wilson's Century Cycle.
