Merchandise Manager – US Tour Platypus Productions LLC is seeking an experienced and driven Merchandise Manager to lead the daily operations, sales performance, and promotion of merchandise for one of our high-profile US touring productions. Platypus is a global leader in theatrical merchandise, operating at the heart of the entertainment industry across ten countries worldwide. The Role As Merchandise Manager, you will be fully responsible for the on-site retail operation for the duration of the tour. You will lead all merchandise sales activity, manage inventory and logistics, oversee local selling teams, and act as the key point of contact between production, venues, and head office. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong operational control, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced touring environment. Key Responsibilities 1. Oversee daily merchandise sales operations at venues across the United States 2. Lead all venue load-in and load-out processes, including stock management and logistics 3. Drive sales performance and maximize revenue opportunities 4. Deliver and maintain an exceptional customer service standard 5. Manage inventory, conduct regular stock counts, and minimize shrinkage 6. Prepare and submit accurate sales reports and reconciliations 7. Liaise with producers, venue management, and key external partners 8. Recruit, brief, train, and manage local selling teams at each venue 9. Create and maintain visually engaging, commercially effective retail displays 10. Build strong working relationships with venue, production, and head office teams About You 1. Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in a touring merchandise or retail management role 2. Theatre or live touring experience strongly preferred 3. Proven leadership experience managing and motivating teams 4. Strong commercial acumen with the ability to analyze sales and stock data 5. Experience with inventory management, cash handling, and POS systems 6. Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel 7. Highly organized with strong administrative and reporting skills 8. Comfortable with manual handling and heavy lifting 9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills 10. Professional, confident, and able to represent the brand at all levels Requirements 1. Ability to work calmly and effectively in high-pressure environments 2. Strong self-management skills and ability to operate independently 3. Full availability to travel with the production, including nights and weekends 4.
