In Wendy Kesselman's gripping new adaptation of the original stage play by Goodrich and Hackett, survivor accounts and newly discovered writings from the diary of Anne Frank are interwoven to create a contemporary impassioned story of those persecuted under Nazi rule. This is an adaptation for a new generation able to confront the true horrors of the Holocaust.

Cast and Creative Team for The Diary of Anne Frank (Kesselman Adaptation) at Thomas Duncan Hall

Cast

Kiera Brueck
Anne Frank
Kiera Brueck (Anne Frank) is ecstatic to be in The Diary of Anne Frank. She would love to thank everyone who’s helped her along the way especially Katie Schneider and Sahara Thibault. She’d also like to thank the whole cast and her friends for encouraging her along the way to make her performance the best it can be. Enjoy the show!
Bill Knapp
Otto Frank
Bill Knapp (Mr. Otto Frank) is pleased to be making his Chancel Players debut with this production. He has been involved with local theater for over 12 years in a variety of acting roles including Dial M For Murder, And Then There Were None, Out of Order, Murder on the Orient Express, Moonlight and Magnolias among others. He has also directed The Rainmaker and Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Play for Civic Theater. None of this is possible without the love and support of his wife Amy and cats Moggy and Buxton.
Kyle Borcz
Mr. Dussel
Kyle Borcz (Dr. Dussel) is happy to be making his on-stage debut with Chancel Players having directed last summer’s production of Godspell. Active in local theatre since 2013, Kyle has worked with Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette, the Delphi Opera House, and Civic Theatre of Clinton County in the capacity of actor, director, producer and even playwright. His most recent role was Mr. Mushnik in Red Brick Theatre’s 2019 production of Little Shop of Horrors. Earlier this year, he was honored to direct the world premiere production of the slapstick romantic comedy I Love Lacy.
Daniel Condreay
Peter Van Daan
Daniel Condreay (Peter Van Daan) Daniel Condreay (Peter) is a graduate of Harrison High School. He is currently a freshman at Ivy Tech and is pursuing a career in psychology. In his free time, Daniel enjoys writing poetry and baking French pastries. His previous shows include Puffs (J. Finch), Godspell (Jeffrey), Little Women (Laurie), Anastasia (Count Leopold), Bye Bye Birdie (Mayor), and It’s a Wonderful Life (Mr. Gower). He would like to thank Rod, Jane, Kyle, Ashley, and everyone in the cast for being so amazing and making the show the best it could be.
Emily Fry
Miep Gies
Emily Fry (Miep Gies) is so excited to make her theatrical debut as Miep Gies in The Diary of Anne Frank! Emily enjoys playing video games, working on her podcast, A Court of Witches, and hanging with her pup and cat in her free time. She wants to thank her boyfriend, Will, for always supporting her!
Lyle Janney
Mr. Van Daan
Lyle Janney (Mr. Van Daan) is elated to accept the challenges presented by the character affectionately known as “Putti”. Portraying a couple dozen diverse characters over the past decade or so has prepared Lyle to bring to life the gruff but practical business partner of Otto Frank. While Lyle’s IT job at Purdue University pays the bills, theatre is what feeds Lyle’s spirit, so he is deeply grateful to his family and friends for their unabashed support.
Linda Mackey
Mrs. Van Daan
Linda Mackey (Mrs. Van Daan) is honored, painfully grateful, and humbled to portray a glimpse of human nature’s response to this horrific prejudiced manhunt. Never Forget. Every role from Delphi Opera House, Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette, Clinton County Civic Theatre and now Chancel becomes the best one yet. Thank you, Chancel Players, for all you stand for.
Caty Natt
First German Soldier
Caty Natt is excited to be part of her first Chancel Players show. She was last seen onstage last year as Greta Olson in Civic Theatre’s Murder on the Orient Express. She spends her offstage time teaching Television Production at Purdue and reading books to review on her Instagram. She would like to thank her husband Jordan for marrying her in this very hall six months ago, Kyle for reaching out to bring her onboard for this production, and her 2006 Civic Theatre The Diary of Anne Frank castmates for the cherished memories that have popped up throughout rehearsals.
Brian Ruh
Mr. Kraler
Brian Ruh (Mr. Kraler) works in IT at Purdue Federal Credit Union and tries to write about film and study languages in his free time. He was last seen onstage as Head Waiter in Lafayette Civic’s production of Murder on the Orient Express. He would like to thank his wife, his daughters, his parents, and his parents-in-law, and thanks to Kyle for getting him to audition.
Coco Roberts
Margot Frank
Melinda White
Edith Frank
Melinda White (Mrs. Frank) This is Melinda’s second performance with Chancel Players, after appearing as Marmee in Little Women. She is so grateful for the opportunity she has had in this production to further explore her theatrical side. She loves her theater family (but not as much as her husband, kids, and grandkids). When she isn’t in theater productions, she is finding other ways to be ridiculously overextended.
