THE PARTY’S ROARING IN HOUSTON! THE GREAT GATSBY is a “Broadway extravaganza that explodes with life and energy” (Entertainment Weekly). Based on the classic American novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the Tony Award®-winning new musical is an unforgettable journey of love, wealth and tragedy that brings the Roaring Twenties to life on stage. Directed by Marc Bruni (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical), this story of extravagance and longing features choreography by Dominique Kelley (So You Think You Can Dance), a book by Kait Kerrigan (The Mad Ones) and a jazz- and pop-influenced original score by Jason Howland (Little Women) and Nathan Tysen (Paradise Square).
The book is full of mysteries, unspoken judgements, and a vicious sense of classism mixed with ruthless self-preservation, and there is not a lot of this present in this interpretation, brought to life by Kait Kerrigan's book, Jason Howland's music, and Fitzgerald-inspired lyrics by Nathan Tysen.
The North American Tour of THE GREAT GATSBY will star stage veterans Jake David Smith as Jay Gatsby and Senzel Ahmady as Daisy Buchanan. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
THE GREAT GATSBY, based on the beloved novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald, will play a limited one-week Houston engagement at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts.
The first dates have been announced for the North American tour of the Broadway musical THE GREAT GATSBY. The production kicks off with its first public performances in Baltimore, MD.
