Retired NYPD officer Walter "Pops" Washington is fighting to keep his rent-controlled apartment on Riverside Drive while dealing with his recently paroled son, a demanding landlord, and the NYPD, who want him to settle a lawsuit from when he was shot off-duty. The dark comedy explores themes of family, justice, and survival through a cast of eccentric characters, blending humor with serious social commentary on race and the justice system.
Directed by Scott McWhirter, TSW's production features the talents of Dave Osbie Shepard, Johnny Adams, Natalie Yarborough, Chuka Ohalete, Margot Merek, Manny Martinez, and Amanda Ashley Grant.
Between Riverside & Crazy runs February 20-March 7, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm, and Sundays February 22 and Mar 1, at 3 pm, at TSW's new location (3939 Hillcroft, Suite 160).
This play is intended for mature audiences: it includes strong profanity, drug references, sexual dialogue, and mature themes including police brutality, racism, and grief.
