Painting TJ at The Brad Powell Theatre

When high school junior Sonya, spray paints a penis on the school’s statue of Thomas Jefferson due to her new understanding of racism, she sets off a series of events that she hadn’t considered, including endangering her mother’s job as headmaster of the school and creating a frozen zone between the two of them.

Sonya is suspended from school for two weeks which gives her a crash course in herself, her mother, and racism.
