Dinner Theatre $109.75 per performance, $13.25 hourly


SEEKING

Equity actors for roles in WIZARD OF OZ (see breakdown).

Most characters we encounter currently are on the binary and are written with he/him or she/her pronouns and you will see that in the following character descriptions. However limiting the descriptions are, our casting seeks to be inclusive as possible and we invite gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender, and non-binary actors to submit for the roles they most identify with. We will also list race/ethnicity when specific to the character but are otherwise seeking all races and ethnicities. Please let us know if you have any questions, concerns, or if there are any accommodations we can provide.


INSTRUCTIONS

Please prepare the sides and track for the character you are auditioning for at https://www.marriotttheatre.com/audition/tya-wizard-of-oz . If a reader is not accessible to you, you may perform a monologue in the style of the show. Please fill out the following google form to submit your audition: https://forms.gle/QCdxtAMiFgJGvh178 . Deadline: March 11th, 2022 8am CST.

In-person callbacks will be at the Marriott Theatre Property in Lincolnshire, IL during the days of March 16th and 17th. Please indicate if you are not available during those days.

Rehearsal: June 22nd, 2022- July 2nd, 2022 (Tuesdays - Saturdays)

Tech: July 5th, 2022- July 7th, 2022

Previews: July 8th, 2022 - July 9th, 2022

Performances: July 10th, 2022 - August 7th, 2022 WITH a remount from November 15th, 2022 - January 1st, 2023 (Wednesday - Sunday with two shows on Wednesday, Saturday

All cast members must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to appear at an in-person callback and be cast in the show. “Fully vaccinated,” as defined by the CDC, is more than 14 calendar days following receipt of a final dose of an FDA or World Health Organization authorized or approved vaccine.

BREAKDOWN

All roles will be understudied.

Dorothy Gale: Female, 13-25, (Mezzo/Mix) Young Kansas girl, earnest, expressive, and strong-willed, in search of something more. Very strong singer who moves well.

Scarecrow: Male, 25-45, (Baritone) Plucky and clever in a pinch, even while lacking a brain. Has an honest quality. Excellent dancer – acrobatic skills a bonus.

Lion: Male, 25-45, (Baritone) A mix of bravado and cowardice. Moves well. Excellent comic timing required.

Tinman: Male, 25-45, (Baritone/Tenor) Desperate for a heart. A kind-hearted romantic. Singing and dancing required, tap skills a plus.

Aunt Em/Glinda: Female 25-45, (Soprano) Aunt Em is a typical midwestern farm worker, her main concern is the upkeep of her farm. Glinda is the Good Witch of the North. Benevolent and beloved. Strong singer

Miss Gulch/Wicked Witch: Female, 25-60. Singing is a plus but isn’t required. Character villain with an over-the-top stage presence. Excellent comic with a killer cackle. Sings comically but doesn’t have to sound good.

Uncle Henry/Wizard of Oz: Male 40-65. Singing is a plus but isn’t required. Uncle Henry is Dorothy’s pleasant uncle. Oz is an older father figure with an eccentric flair. Basic conjuring or sleight of hand a bonus.

Ensemble: ‍Monkeys, Soldiers, Munchkins, Winkies.
