NOTE: All actors must be local for rehearsals in NYC. Housing, travel, and per diem will be provided for tech and performances in Washington, DC. We seek actors that are ensemble-based, adept with

characterizations, and strong movers. Every effort will be made to have a cast that is reflective of the world we live in with regard to racial, size, ability, diversity, and gender identification.

PREPARATION

Please prepare a brief cut of an uptempo contemporary musical theater piece. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring a picture and resume, stapled together.

ABOUT THE SHOW: Spells of the Sea is a captivating musical adventure of a young girl's fearless quest against all odds to find a magical cure for her father--blending heart, humor and enchantment into a tale of resilience and belief!

SEEKING:

FINLEY FRANKFURTER: BIPOC Female. 18+ to play 15. Fisherwoman. Feisty. Full of wonder. Possesses a playful energy and a deep emotional resonance. Contemporary alto with musical theatre belt.

H.S. CRANK: Male. 60+. Retired lighthouse keeper. Hates people, is a real curmudgeon, until he is able to open up. Baritone.

MERMAID & OTHERS: Female. 20s to 40s but seeming ageless. Has an ethereal quality, but also is a bit of a trickster. Naturally comedic. Alto with musical theatre belt.

DAD, PIRATE CAPTAIN, & OTHERS: Male. Mid 30s to late 40s. Warm and caring, as well as comedic and boisterous. Low bass/baritone.

PRINCESS & OTHERS: BIPOC Female. 18+ to play teens through 20s. Effortlessly comedic, not afraid to go there. Princess is rich, dramatic, and the main character of her own life. Mezzo with pop belt.

DOCTOR & OTHERS: Open Gender. 20s-40s. A strong dancer (ballet, jazz, contemporary) with puppetry capabilities.
