PREPARATION

Please prepare a short monologue or a one minute monologue and 16-bars of a song. An accompanist will not be provided. Audition may not exceed 3 minutes. Please bring your headshot and resume stapled together.

KATHERINE - University Professor. Has an affinity for sleeping with younger men and possibly her students. Brilliant, confident, sexy. Proficient in dialects, specifically Ukrainian. Doubles as YAGA, GEENA, ELENA, JANICE, SIDLE.

CARSON- Police Detective working to solve a missing person’s case along with Detective Rapp. Pretty, tough, athletic. Doubles as TRULY, PAMELA, LILY, ANNA, MURPHY.

RAPP - Private Detective working to solve a missing person’s case along with Detective Carson. Handsome, clever, affable. Doubles as HENRY - cocky and entitled.

WASTE

SEEKING:

AMY O’CONNELL - Female. 30s. A charming, intelligent woman who converts every quality she possesses into a means of attraction. Married to an Irishman but living on her own in London

HENRY TREBELL - OFFER OUT

FRANCES TREBELL - Female. Late 40s. Henry's unmarried sister. Has the air of a housekeeper, but possesses real wisdom

*WALTER KENT - Male. 20s. Henry's secretary. An orderly and happy fellow. Possible double with O’CONNELL.

LUCY DAVENPORT - Female. 20s. Walter's fiancé. She brings a breath of joy and intelligence into any room she enters.

Dr. WEDGECROFT - Male. 40s to 50s. A friend of Henry's. Chatty and in perfect health of body and spirit. His enthusiasm is his vitality, and he possesses an air of fearless affection.

CHARLES CANTELUPE - Male. 40s- 60s. Unathletic and a gentleman in the best and worst sense of the word. He always moves and speaks with caution. A Church leader.

LORD HORSHAM - Male. 50s to 60s. A man of delicate taste and somewhat thin intellectuality. A compromiser. About to become Prime Minister.

*JUSTIN O’CONNELL - Male. 40s. Amy's husband, Irish. Could be mistaken for a Catholic priest. His features are so impassive that they may be of grief or indifference. Possible double with KENT.

BLACKBOROUGH - Male. 50s to 60s. A politician from the Midlands who loves conniving and making deals.

SEEKING:

ARTEMISIA - Female. 20-40s. Fierce, angry, incredibly clever. A painter who is defending herself in court at her own rape trial.

TASSI - Female. 20-40s. Confident, cold and entitled. A painter beloved by many in high society. He has been arrested many times but never held accountable for his crimes.

TUZIA - Female. 20-60s. Sly, snobbish, easily-led. A neighbor who purported to be looking after Artemisia but found herself charmed by Tassi.

ENSEMBLE/MUSICIAN - Female. 20-60s. Plays Judge, Narrator, Midwife 1 and additional characters. Accompanies piece with live music.

SEEKING:

SOFIA - Female. 20-40s. An empathy coach fighting an uphill battle. She is good at her job and perhaps using that to distract herself from her struggles outside of the conference room.

EVA - Female. 30s. A worker at the agency. Someone keeps mugging her. Terrified but smiling.

JON - Male. 40-50s. The boss. He wants to help Sofia succeed (but mostly get her in and out with minimal effort in a way that doesn’t impact him at all).

HOWIE - Male. 20-30s. White. A worker at the agency. Man-child #1. Aggressive. JORDAN - Male. 20-30s. A worker at the agency. Man-child #2. A poet.

SOFIA’S MOTHER/JANIE - Female. 50-60s. Sofia’s mom. She’s trying. / A worker at the agency. She’s been through it.

OLD MAN - Male. 50+. Deranged. Or is he? He is. Or is he?
