SEEKING

Equity actors for principal roles in KISS MY AZTEC - Tier 3 Work Session (see breakdown).

The producers, creative team and casting team are committed to an equitable, inclusive, and accessible casting process for KISS MY AZTEC! HISPANIC/LATINE people of all races, cultural backgrounds, abilities, and gender identities are encouraged to audition.

As we continue to develop the show, the current draft will go through many revisions and ultimately who we cast will reflect those changes. The breakdown and vocal ranges below refer to the characters as they are currently written and are not meant to limit the actors we're looking to cast in the roles.

KISS MY AZTEC - Tier 3 Work Session

PEPE - Mid-20s – mid-30s. Tenor (who can rap and do a bad French accent). E3-Bb4 (Falsetto up to Eb5). Afro-Latino or Indigenous Latino. Tribal clown/puppeteer (sock puppets). Physically agile. Energetic with a streak of childlike naiveté. Courageous in his own way.

COLOMBINA - Mid-20s – mid-30s. Alto (who can rap). G3-C5. Afro-Latina or Indigenous Latina. A rebel and a warrior. Fierce, street savvy, wants very badly to prove herself in battle. Politically woke.

EL JAGUAR NEGRO/REYMUNDO - 40s-50s. Tenor. D3-A4. Afro-Latino or Indigenous Latino. EL JAGUAR NEGRO - An Aztec rebel leader and warrior. An inspiring, heartfelt orator. Father of Colombina. REYMUNDO - an Inquisitor. Whose greatest ambition is to be Lady Macbeth, closeted lover of Fernando.

RODRIGO - 40s-50s. Baritenor. E3-Eb4. Latino of European descent. Viceroy and ruler of the Spanish colony. A monstrous, obsessive narcissist. Father of Fernando and Pilar. (also plays UNCLE PACO)

PILAR - 20s. Alto with belt, who can do faux operatic mezzo-soprano. Belt A3-C5, Legit Bb3-Eb5. Latina of European descent. Daughter of Rodrigo. Wildly rebellious 16th-century Goth girl who has dedicated most of her life to trying to mess with her father. She’s rich, entitled, and spoiled, but her fury and rebelliousness are her saving graces. (Also plays one of the Aztecs).

FERNANDO/SEBASTIAN - 20s. Tenor. Eb3-Bb4 (Falsetto up to F5). Latino of European descent. FERNANDO - Son and advisor to Rodrigo. A member of the LGBTQ+ community but unable to express himself freely. Damaged by having to spend his entire life in utter submission to his father. Ambitious and secretly seeking revenge.

SEBASTIAN - Nephew of the king of Spain and a zealous champion of the Empire. Thrilled by the prospect of marrying Pilar if for no other reason than she isn’t a family relation. (Also plays one of the Aztecs).

TOLIMA - 40s-50s. Alto/Mezzo (who can rap). B3-B4. Afro-Latina or Indigenous Latina. Aztec witch of the Viceroy’s court and spy for El Jaguar Negro. While her magic is waning, she’s a deft manipulator and juggler of various plots. Her persona is large and she has presence. (Also plays one of the Aztecs).

PIERRE PIERROT - 30s-40s. Baritenor. D3-Gb4. Latino of European descent. A crown fixer. A Frenchman who has made a small fortune traveling the world and mopping up the crimes of kings and queens. Massive cocaine user. (Also plays a Spanish Guard and one of the Aztecs).
