SEEKING:

EMM:

Female, 25. All ethnicities encouraged to submit. A young woman at a crossroads. An underdog. Plain, ardent, genuine, funny, scrappy, self-deprecating, a searcher. Suffering from depression, but never self-pitying. Wonderful relationship with the audience. A feeler and a thinker who’s more willful than she knows. Has a fiery inner warrior and a deep, fierce hunger. She always tries really hard, even when she can’t. Likely on the smaller/shorter side

SIMS

Male, 30s. Latino. Rock-climbing coach for the Kids’ Team in Miami. A you-can’t-help-but-like-him asshole. Passionate about climbing, coaching kids, and tough love. A lot of bravado, masking latent insecurity / feelings of failure. Rarely lets his guard down, but every once in a while he softens. Loves being in charge, although he’s never top dog (e.g. he doesn’t run the climbing gym, he’s on staff; a great climber, but not brilliant).

SAM:

Male, mid 30s-40s. English professor and Emm’s ex-boyfriend. Well-put-together, clean, particular, likes things to be contained / controlled / ordered – though they rarely are, and it throws him. A gifted and enthralling professor of American literature who still hasn’t figured out how to be happy. Sometimes, he admits this to himself; most of the time he lives in denial of it. Always doing the best he can. (Also plays JOEY – age 8-9).

MICK

Male, 25-30. Pediatrician + Emm’s childhood friend & first boyfriend. A young, and very good, pediatrician. And friend. Goofy, playful, loyal, sensitive. Smart and rational, but also insightful. Not afraid to call it like it is. Fairly content in life… except for a few key wounds he usually tries to ignore. But right now he’s hurt and angry. Must play some guitar, ukulele, thumb piano, or something similar. (Also plays ERNESTO – age 10).

DELL

Female, 20s-30s. Energetic healer and Emm’s best friend. Works odd-jobs, but her calling is as a Healer. In touch with nearly every aspect of herself, and of human beings in general; loves figuring out what makes people tick. Intuitive, compassionate, wise. Highly sexual, frank, awesome sense of humor. Continually wrestling with the darkness in her life – which is usually a mess. Has many demons, but she knows them all intimately. (Also plays ISABELLA – age 11).

KY

Female, 30s-40s. World-class climber in Colorado, once had a relationship with Sims. A gifted, magnificent, expert climber, with an extremely grounded and Zen approach to climbing/coaching. Ky was born of the rocks, with the rocks, climbing the rocks. A bit of a hermit who’s most herself in Nature; people don’t make sense to her, rocks do. She’s not old, but she seems to have lived a long time. Magnetic. There’s something special about her. (Also plays JACKIE – early teens).
