SEEKING:
DOROTHY DARK EYES (Woman, 35-40, Native American, First Nations, Mixed Race Native/Indigenous) Darrell's childhood friend, now a devoted tribal teacher who runs the Tall Tree language immersion School. Rich pop voice, Mezzo.
BETTY STILL SMOKING (Woman, late 50s-Early 60s, Native American, First Nations, Mixed Race Native/Indigenous) A matriarchal pillar of the tribe with a great sense of humor. Legit Alto with Belt.
AIYANA BUCK (Girl, 16, Native American, First Nations, Mixed Race Native/Indigenous) Sheriff Buck's rebellious 16-year-old daughter who is the ringleader in the effort to get Tonto and Smudge to run away from the res with her. Doubles ENSEMBLE roles. Pop-Rock Alto.
SMUDGE (Boy, 13-14, Native American, First Nations, Mixed Race Native/Indigenous) Small in stature as he doubles as YOUNG DARRELL, a Fancy Dancer, in flashbacks. Smudge is a neglected kid - a follower - who tags along with Aiyana. Pop Tenor.
SHERIFF RAYMOND BUCK (Man, Late 30s-Early 40s, Native American, First Nations, Mixed Race Native/Indigenous) The tribal Sheriff and DARRELL'S contemporary. A dangerous man desperate for respect. He is bitter that Darrell’s father, White Feather, was a champion lacrosse player who always
bested his own father. Darrell returning is a thorn in his side. Doubles as BILLY, the food vendor, in Indian Days. Baritone, sings a sustained vocable solo.
GRANDMA JINGLE DRESS (Woman, Late 60s-70s, Native American, First Nations, Mixed Race Native/Indigenous) The elder tribal storyteller, a savant. Powwow and Ensemble singing.
SAM SILVER (Man, Late 30s-Early 40s, Native American, First Nations, Mixed Race Native/Indigenous) The Bureau of Indian Affairs Official, self-important, self-serving in the name of the tribe. His years in that position have skewed him to the ways of the white world. Doubles as HECTOR, a gender fluid friend of Roberta and Betty. He channels BLACK ELK in “Pick Up the Pieces.” Pop Rock Tenor with legit capability.
NATIVE MUSICIAN SINGER-DANCER (Man, 20s-40s, Native American, First Nations, Mixed Race Native/Indigenous) Athletic, theatrical experience a plus. Powwow singing. May also double as SAM SILVER and HECTOR.
