WEST SIDE STORY

SEEKING:
- Riff: Male, 25–30, G4–Bb2. A spritely, quick-tempered leader. He seeks to eliminate the Sharks and establish his own gang's dominance. Tony's best friend; he is eventually murdered by Bernardo.
- Tony: Male, 25–30, Bb4–Bb2. A romantic young man and former leader of the Jets who has found a new lifestyle. Tony is torn between friendships and love; falls in love with Maria and meets an untimely death. Genuinely sweet and sincere.
- Bernardo: Male, 25–35, Eb4–Bb2. A proud, strong, handsome Puerto Rican man seeking identity and territory for his friends. Maria's brother and Anita's boyfriend. Leader of the Sharks.
- Maria: Female, 18–25, C6–Bb3. A hopeless romantic and innocent young woman who falls in love with Tony and becomes central to the gangs' violent conflict. Puerto Rican.
- Anita: Female, 25–30, D5–F3. Feisty and assertive; offers older-sister advice to Maria and tries to shield her from gang dangers. Bernardo's girlfriend and Maria's friend. Puerto Rican.
- Chino: Male, 20–25. An angry, sometimes naive Shark who turns vengeful. Suitor to Maria and friend of Bernardo's.
- Anybodys: Any gender, 18–25. A spunky tomboy desperate to join the Jets. Mocked by the others but full of energy and heart.
- Doc: Male, 50–60. Owner of the candy store where the Jets hang out. Guides the Jets' youthful angst and provides a safe haven for Tony. Old-fashioned and wise.
- Schrank: Male, 40–50. Local police detective frustrated by ongoing gang violence. Blunt, brash, unapologetic.
- Krupke: Male, 40–50. Local beat cop with no patience for the gangs' conflict; often mocked by them.
- Gladhand: Nerdy, overly cheerful and ill-equipped social director at the school dance (“Mambo”). Speaking role; no dance background required.
- Ensemble: Triple-threat dancers/singers/actors of all ethnicities.

- David Ruffin: Male (cis, transgender, or non-binary), 20s–30s, Black. Lead singer after Al; electrifying on stage, one of pop music's most charismatic front men. Doubles as Guard. LEAD TENOR; strong dancer.

- Eddie Kendricks: Male (cis, transgender, or non-binary), 20s–30s, Black. Vocal arranger, outspoken; STRONG FALSETTO; strong dancer.
- Paul Williams: Male (cis, transgender, or non-binary), 20s–30s, Black. Founding member and resident choreographer; well-liked but troubled. BARITONE; strong dancer.

- Ensemble/Lamont & Others: Male-presenting, 20s, Black. Otis Williams' son. Strong tenor. Strong dancer.
- Ensemble/Shelly Berger: Male-presenting, 20s–40s, White. Not a typical Motown manager; character man. Doubles as JUDGE and TV ANNOUNCER. Strong tenor.

- Nick Arnstein (24–40): Male, Lead Baritone. Good-looking but unsuccessful gambler; suave, sophisticated, charming. Strong middle-range voice.
- Mrs. Brice (40+): Female, Supporting Mezzo-soprano. Fanny's sharp-tongued but sympathetic Brooklyn/Jewish mother; dry, funny.
- Mrs. Strakosh (40+): Female, Supporting Mezzo-soprano. Pessimistic Jewish mother; strong, shrill yet funny.
- Mrs. Meeker (40+): Female, Supporting Mezzo-soprano. One of Mrs. Brice's cohorts; comedienne.
- Mrs. O’Malley: Female, Supporting Mezzo-soprano. Fourth in Mrs. Brice's quartet of friends; Irish accent.
- Eddie Ryan (20–35): Male, Supporting Baritone. Song-and-dance man and Fanny’s closest friend who secretly loves her. Strong singer/dancer who taps; good comic timing.
- Mr. Renaldi (30+): Male, Featured (Spoken). Theatrical agent; urbane with strong acting skills.
- Mrs. Meeker (30+): Female, Featured Mezzo-soprano. Mrs. Brice's neighbor.
- Ziegfeld Tenor (18–65): Male, Featured Tenor. Sings “The Most Beautiful Bride In The World”; high production-style tenor.
- Florenz Ziegfeld: Male, Featured (Spoken). Famed Broadway producer; elegant, distinguished. Non-singing, non-dancing role.
- Tom Keeney: Male. Tough vaudeville producer who gives Fanny her first break.

- Sandy Chapin: Late 30s–early 40s. Harry's wife; the show's narrator and emotional anchor. Smart, artistic, grounded with dry wit. ALTO.
- Tom Chapin: Mid 30s. Singer who plays acoustic guitar. Harry’s younger brother; warm, direct, mature. TENOR.
- Steve Chapin: Early 30s. Singer with keyboard chops. Youngest brother with kid brother energy; excitable and enthusiastic. TENOR.
- John “Big John” Wallace: Late 30s. Singer who plays bass guitar. Harry's childhood friend; deep-voiced, deadpan, wise-cracking, with integrity. BARITONE with multi-octave range including legit classical sound and falsetto.
- Character Tracks (2): Two male-identifying characters who sing and double as various roles including Bill Ayres (Catholic priest turned rock radio host), Senator Pat Leahy, Sandy's first husband, Clive Davis and Jac Holzman (rival label heads), President Jimmy Carter, among others.
