LLOYD (Male, 20s-40s). African American. Lloyd is a headliner at the Apollo in the 1950s. Inspired by Little Richard, he has big energy, presence, and speaks his mind. He is shocked to see a white band at the Apollo and then is bowled over by their talent. Actors should have strong comedic timing and versatility to play multiple roles. Will also play DECCA ENGINEER and RADIO DJ VOICEOVERS. Actor MUST be highly skilled saxophone players proficient in playing rock & roll style. Flexible vocal range.

Marcia Milgrom Dodge’s new 7-person conception of acclaimed musical, BUDDY! THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY. Premiered last year at Great Lakes Center for the Arts. Non-stop entertaining rock show recounts Buddy Holly’s 18-month, meteoric rise to fame and the indelible impact he left on the industry after his untimely death at age 22. Influencing artists from The Beatles to Bruce Springsteen and plenty of musicians in between, the early rocker is immortalized in this mesmerizing musical memoir.
