In the folder, you will also see the audio track to record to. If you wish to provide footage of you singing a song of your choosing or singing one of the singers' tracks at https://www.marriotttheatre.com/audition/bigfish you are welcome to do so.

SINGERS: Please prepare the cut of “Be the Hero” at https://www.marriotttheatre.com/audition/bigfish . We have an accompaniment recording and a rehearsal recording that plays the vocal part for each song. If you wish to provide footage of you dancing or performing the dance call at https://www.marriotttheatre.com/audition/bigfish you are welcome to do so.

DIRECTOR’S NOTE: Big Fish is at once a rollicking downhome technicolor tall tale brought to life, and an intimate heartbreaking realistic story about a father and son. It navigates the tricky space that a father and son occupy through the course of a lifetime’s attempt at forging a meaningful relationship; past, present, and future. Edward Bloom’s fantastical, wonderous embellishment of his life’s story is at heart an attempt to connect with his son Will in a much more magical and profound way than the reality of his world will actually permit, or his own humanity comfortably allows. It is about a father genuinely wanting to share the wondrous possibilities of a life with his son in order to be the hero he thinks his son wants him to be.

A note about casting: (adopted from language with consent originally created by Kevin Kantor and Emily Trarquin of Actors Theatre of Louisville): Most characters we encounter currently are on the binary and are written with he/him or she/her pronouns and you will see that in the following character descriptions. However limiting the descriptions are, our casting seeks to be inclusive as possible and we invite gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender, and non-binary actors to submit for the roles they most identify with. We will also list race/ethnicity when specific to the character but are otherwise seeking all races and ethnicities. Please let us know if you have any questions, concerns, or if there are any accommodations we can provide.

Seeking:

ENSEMBLE: Strong singers/dancers that can hold harmonies with strong movement skills. Towns folk, circus performers, wedding guests, and tall tale creatures that Edward invents.
