SEEKING

Equity actors for roles in American Players Theatre 2023 Season (see breakdown).

At American Players Theatre, we believe that great poetry and stories belong to everyone. With that in-mind, we are seeking submissions from actors of all identities who are eager to bring their unique points of view to these timeless, challenging, poetic texts. We encourage submissions from BIPOC identifying actors.

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

Please prepare one Shakespeare monologue and one additional piece of your choice not to exceed a total of 3 minutes. All videos should use either the YouTube or Vimeo platform.

Please include digital copies of your headshot and resume. Please include either Equity or EMC status in the subject line. Email your headshot/resume and video submission.

On our Hill Stage: The Merry Wives of Windsor, directed by TBA; The Liar, directed by Keira Fromm; Our Town, directed by Tim Ocel; Chekhov One Acts, directed by Jake Penner; and Romeo and Juliet, directed by John Langs. Presented in the Touchstone Theatre: The Royale, directed by TBA; Once Upon a Bridge, directed by Laura Rook; The Wolf at the Door, directed by Melisa Pereyra; and Proof, directed by Brenda DeVita.

Seeking:

All roles in the season are understudied. Each actor in the season will play up to 3 roles and will have additional understudy responsibilities.

Merry Wives of Windsor

Master Page - Male Identifying/presenting. 30-40. Wealthy Gentleman of Windsor Married to Margaret, father to Anne and William.

The Liar

Philliste - Male Identifying/presenting. 20-30 - Friend to Alcippe, young gentleman of Paris.

Our Town

Emily - Female Identifying/presenting early 20's. Leading Role, plays from early teens to a young mother.

George - Male Identifying/presenting early 20's. Leading role, plays from early teens to young father.

The Royale

Wynton - Black, Male Identifying/presenting 40-50. Jay Jackson's Boxing trainer. Nina - Black, Female, 20's.

Romeo and Juliet

Benvolio - Any Gender Identity. ASL FLUENT - Friend to Romeo in our ASL/Spoken English ensemble production.

Prince - Black, Male, 30's/40's.

Wolf at the Door

Yolot - Femme Identifying/presenting. Latine, 20's. Lead, very strong/physical role. She is an ancient being.

Isadora - Femme Identifying/presenting Latine, 20's. Lead, young wife. She has a simmering strength, her waters run deep.

Chekhov One Acts

Anton Chekhov - Supporting Role, Any race, Male, 20's.

Natalya - Any Race, Supporting Role, Female, 20's/30's.

Once Upon a Bridge

The Bus Driver - Lead Role, Black, Male, 30's/40's.

Marianne - Lead Role, White, Female, 20's/30's.

Proof

Claire - Supporting Role, Female, 20's.

Hal Dobbs - Lead Role, Male, 30's.
