This month, the Barn Theatre opens Green Day's AMERICAN IDIOT - the high octane, electric rock musical of youthful disillusion. This regional premiere plays July 14 - 26. The show centers around three boyhood friends, who struggle to find meaning in a post-9/11 world. Johnny (portrayed by Barn favorite Kevin Robin White), Tunny (Michael Tuck) and Will (Jamey Grisham) decide to flee the constraints of their hometown for the thrills of city life, but plans are quickly derailed when choices they make quickly estrange the three friends.

Also featured in the cast are Samantha Rickard portraying Whatshername, Bethany Edlund as Heather, first year apprentices Jake Rura as St. Jimmy and Sarah Lazar as The Extraordinary Girl as well as much of the Barn's 2015 company. AMERICAN IDIOT, a 2010 Tony Award-nominated Best Musical and 2010 Grammy Award winner for Best Musical Show Album, features the music of Green Day with the lyrics of its lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong. The book is by Armstrong and Michael Mayer. This energy-fueled rock opera features little dialogue and instead relies on the lyrics from Green Day's groundbreaking album to execute the story line.

The two-time TONY Award-winning hit boldly takes the American musical where it's never gone before. The musical features the hits "Boulevard of Broken Dreams," "21 Guns," "Wake Me Up When September Ends," "Holiday" and the blockbuster title track "American Idiot" from Green Day's 2004 Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum album. Also included in the score are several songs from Green Day's 2009 release "21st Century Breakdown," and an unreleased love song, "When It's Time." AMERICAN IDIOT premiered at Berkeley Repertory Theatre in September 2009 and played through November of that year.

In April 2010, the musical opened on Broadway in April 2010. Performances for AMERICAN IDIOT are July 14 - 26 Tuesday through Friday at 8:00 p.m., Saturday at 5 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., and Sunday at 5 p.m. Disclaimer: This show features adult content, strong language, and loud rock music.
