CJRO presents Guitar Gods: Metheny, Montgomery, and More, celebrating the legendary guitarists who have shaped the world of jazz, on Saturday, October 19 at 7:30 p.m. at Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, 6901 Wadsworth Blvd., Arvada CO 80003. The concert will feature masterful performances of timeless classics, showcasing the virtuosity and innovation that these guitar legends brought to the jazz genre. Revel in the fusion, Latin, and progressive sounds of ten-time Grammy-winner Pat Metheny, and enjoy Wes Montgomery’s beautiful compositions. The evening will feature the region's finest players honoring these jazz legends and others. The concert will be curated by Mike Abbott, the CJRO’s extraordinary guitarist and Marion Powers will be featured on vocals.
Pat Metheny, who’s intricate melodies and harmonies made him one of the most influential jazz guitarists of our time, and Wes Montgomery’s groundbreaking techniques as a jazz guitar pioneer are highlighted. Mike Abbott has been a professional guitarist and educator for over 25 years and has performed with such diverse acts as the Rolling Stones Horns, Jeff Hamilton, Randy Brecker, John Clayton, Sammy Davis Jr., and Burt Bacharach. Mike performs regularly with the CJRO and at clubs and concerts throughout Colorado.

Since its inception in 2012 by founder and executive director Art Bouton, the Colorado Jazz Repertory Orchestra (CJRO) has been dedicated to performing outstanding concerts with the finest professional musicians in the region. This season, artistic director Drew Zaremba has curated a dynamic concert lineup that spans classic swing, Latin jazz, and soul. The CJRO consistently pushes the boundaries of big band orchestras and small ensembles, featuring exceptional artists from both within and outside the jazz genre.
