On June 15 at their annual convention in Denver, Americans for the Arts honored 49 outstanding, exemplary and innovative public art works created or debuted in 2017, including three Denver Arts & Venues projects. The honors are part of the Public Art Network Year in Review program, the only national program that specifically recognizes the most compelling public art as chosen by a panel of public art experts. This is the 17th year that Americans for the Arts has recognized public art works.
Theatre Aspen Announces First Time Collaboration With Aspen Ideas Festival

On Wednesday, June 27th from 3:45-5:15 pm, the Aspen Ideas Festival and Theatre Aspen will collaborate for the first time ever on a combination live performance and panel discussion event at the Aspen Music Festival's Benedict Music Tent. The session will examine the historical and social impact that iconic theatre pieces have had in highlighting important social issues such as race, gender and social justice. The panel discussions will be moderated by the renown theatre critic of the Washington Post, Peter Marks, and will feature such participants as David Brooks and Katie Couric.

Colorado Shakespeare Festival Receives $25,000 NEA Grant For Shakespeare & Violence Prevention Tour

Arts Midwest announced this month $1 million in grants to 40 non-profit, professional theater companies across 27 states and the District of Columbia, including the Colorado Shakespeare Festival, to perform the works of William Shakespeare for middle and high school students. The Shakespeare in American Communities grant will support CSF's touring Shakespeare & Violence Prevention project, which combines live performance of Shakespeare plays with an anti-violence curriculum. This is the second consecutive year CSF has been awarded this grant.
