About this studio
South Georgia Ballet was founded in 1998 in Thomasville, Georgia, at 600 E Washington St, set up to provide the training a serious dancer needs. Melissa June serves as artistic director and outreach education director; company dancers receive professional instruction, are exposed to the classical repertory, and work with visiting regional and national choreographers. Teaching is divided into core and elective classes, with a separate summer program. Four productions anchor the season: Soiree de Ballet, a classical repertoire showcase with live musicians; The Nutcracker each December; FUSE, an interdisciplinary evening of dance, music and visual art; and a Spring Show featuring the whole school. Outreach includes Special Steps and Step Up! for ages 9 to 18.
