The Dance Academy of Severna Park

The Dance Academy is located at 479 Jumpers Hole Road in Severna Park, Maryland, and teaches a graded syllabus from pre-school through advanced and company levels. Pre-Ballet introduces movement concepts and structured activity for children who must be two and a half by the first day of class, and Primary levels 1 to 5 are combination classes progressing from ballet and tap to ballet, tap and jazz, feeding into a Pre-Company track. Older students take ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, acrobatic dance and hip hop, plus specializt ballet subjects: classical Variations from repertoire such as La Bayadere, Don Quixote, Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake, character dance, and pas de deux partnering for higher levels. Pointe requires a minimum of three technique classes a week and director approval. The academy has certified instructors in Progressing Ballet Technique, including a PBT Junior class for ages 7 and up, and follows the Acrobatic Arts syllabus for acro. Tuition covers events, media, costumes and recital tickets, and summer camps are offered.
