About this studio
San Jose Dance Theatre is a 501(c)(3) non-profit classical ballet academy and performing company on Junction Avenue in San Jose, marking 60 years of ballet in the city. Its academy trains dancers of all ages: Pre-Ballet for ages 4 to 8, Primary Youth Ballet levels 1 to 3 for ages 6 to 11, Intermediate levels 4 to 5 for ages 10 to 13 leading to pointe or partnering work, and Advanced levels 6 to 7 for ages 13 and up as pre-professional training, with eligible students auditioning for the SJDT Studio Company. A drop-in Adult Open Division taught by current and former professional dancers runs alongside the academy, together with summer intensives and workshops. The company produces The Original San Jose Nutcracker and a spring production, and runs community outreach programs.
