About this studio
The Jose Limon Dance Foundation, based at 466 W. 152nd St in New York City, is the home of the Limon Dance Company, founded in 1946 and marking its 80th anniversary. The company preserves and extends the modern dance theatre developed by Jose Limon and his mentors Doris Humphrey and Charles Weidman, performing classic repertory alongside new commissions, with a 2026 New York season at the Joyce Theater. Alongside the company and its archives and licensing work, the Limon Institute runs training in the Limon technique: Limon2 as a second company, the LimonPro and LimonLaunch pre-professional and professional programs with auditions, summer and winter intensives for dancers, a summer workshop for teachers, in-person drop-in and Sunday online classes, free LimonOutdoors sessions, LimonNext for teens and Limon4Kids for children.
