About this studio
Chapman Dance is a Houston-based project company directed by choreographer and performer Teresa Chapman, an Associate Professor of dance at the University of Houston with an MFA from California State University, Long Beach. Rather than a year-round teaching studio, it works project to project, producing original concert choreography for the stage and site-specific work made for gallery spaces. Chapman has performed with Houston choreographers, notably Karen Stokes Dance, and previously danced in Santa Barbara, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington DC, New York City and Hamburg. Her work has been presented in Houston, Nebraska, California, Pennsylvania and New York City; the site documents evening-length works, gallery performances and a short documentary, Shifting Spaces.
