The Ballroom Dance Academy of St. Louis (BDASL) is a nonprofit organization promoting partner and ballroom dancing, with classes held in the Grand Hall on the second floor of the Grandel Theater at 3610 Grandel Square. Its programs are deliberately inter-generational and include a copyrighted ballroom program for seniors, weekly classes for junior high school students, weekly classes for Washington University graduate students, weekly adult ballroom and Argentine tango classes, children's ballroom classes, and adult classes run with the St. Louis Public Library. Current adult sessions cover foxtrot, East Coast swing, waltz, rumba, wedding and event essentials, and Argentine Tango 101 and 102, with singles and couples welcome and no partner needed. The academy also runs an annual week-long adult dance camp, monthly social dances and milongas, performances and community outreach.
