Cathys Creative Dance

Cathy's Creative Dance School has been teaching in the Independence, Missouri area since 1981 and is entering its 44th season, describing itself as dedicated to dance education. Classes start as early as age two, with a popular preschool program deliberately kept to small class sizes; the regular season begins in September. Styles taught include ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, contemporary, musical theatre and acro/tumbling. Beyond weekly classes the studio runs several extra-training programs: the Show Troupe, the MATS Team, and the Stars Performance Team for students in kindergarten through 5th grade, which performs at community events such as the Future Stages Festival, Santa-Cali-Gon and GloWild at the Kansas City Zoo. An adaptive dance program is also offered. The competition team travels to events including Dupree Dance Nationals, where it has taken national titles and a Studio Spirit Award. Summer dance camps cover princess pre-K, mini hip hop and jazz, Broadway, a contemporary/lyrical intensive, dance team prep and circus acro.
