About this studio
En Avant Academy of Dance (formerly Burlington Academy of Dance) is at 412 E Fairhaven in Burlington, Washington, in Skagit County. Its name comes from the ballet term 'en avant', to move forward, which the school takes as its aim for its dancers, working around the themes of education, community and creativity. Families in Burlington, Skagit Valley, Stanwood, Camano Island and surrounding communities have used the school for close to 25 years. Classes are grouped by age: Tots for ages 2-3, PreKinderdance for 3-4, Kinderdance for 5-6, then ages 6-12, PreTeen/Teen and adult classes. The syllabus covers progressive-level ballet with traditional barre and center work, tap, hip hop, lyrical and contemporary from about age 8, and Broadway/musical theatre from age 9, which adds improv games, auditioning, theatre history and scene work. Home school classes and a free trial class are also offered.
